Brazilian firm Martinelli Advogados has hired a senior associate from Highly Recommended DDSA – De Luca, Derenusson, Schuttoff Advogados as non-equity partner and head of its M&A group in São Paulo.

Ettore Botteselli, 33, joined the firm’s São Paulo office on 23 November as a national partner. Martinelli has a total of 18 equity partners and 59 national partners.

Botteselli will coordinate and lead Martinelli’s corporate and M&A group in São Paulo.

Before joining Martinelli, Botteselli was a senior associate for DDSA. He also has experience as of counsel for Portuguese firm SRS Advogados in Lisbon. Prior to that, he was a corporate associate at Elite firm Cescon, Barrieu, Flesch & Barreto Advogados for almost two years.

Botteselli joins at a time when the firm is keeping busy with the significant increase of M&A transactions and corporate matters that Brazil has seen over the past year, says Breno Cônsoli, the São Paulo office’s managing partner. He adds that Botteselli has “experience in national and cross-border transactions, as well as corporate structures and reorganisation,” which will help strengthen the firm.

Martinelli comes Recommended for its corporate and M&A and tax practices. The firm counts more than 300 lawyers across 16 cities. The former head of Martinelli’s corporate law group, Luciana Felisbino, left the firm in August to join Highly Recommended Madrona Advogados.

Highly Recommended outfit DDSA is best known for its corporate and M&A, aviation, tax and labour areas. In 2019, Fabiana Videira, an ex-Campos Mello Advogados in cooperation with DLA Piper partner, joined DDSA’s arbitration and litigation group. The firm now has nine partners.

Latin Lawyer contacted DDSA for comment regarding Botteselli’s departure but did not hear back before publishing.
